Alan’s Christmas wines
This year will be the first year without our daughters at home to check out what Santa has left under the tree. We will therefore start later, sleeping in after a very busy Christmas eve at Swanny Cellars.
Breakfast will be fresh strawberries and fruit salad and warm croissants with a fresh clean glass of Perrier-Jouët champagne…what a start. We will probably go for a swim at the beach and then back for the big family lunch with all the traditional foods.
Riesling always is a great food wine and especially during the day so I’m selecting a great value John Vickery “Vickery Eden Valley” 2015.
If I do stray to red during the day then I believe a Pinot Noir compliments ham and turkey well and I have several nice ones in my cellar.
Christmas day is not complete without St. Hallett The Black Sparkling Shiraz (Sparkling Burgundy) and I will be reaching for a Seppelt’s Show Shiraz to finish the day.
By then my eating and drinking will be done and a soft pillow awaits.
Merry Christmas to you all and a BIG thank you for your support during 2015.
