On Christmas Day, I’ll be opening a few bottles of Champagne after we come back from the beach for our annual dip! I think we should start with Ruinart and then go onto the Louis Roederer! My favourite is the demi sec as I still have a bit of sweet tooth. A few bottles of Prosecco will be refreshing as the day warms up and good to have on hand for any ‘adhoc guests’ who might drop in.’ For lunch, a Fraser Gallop, Windows Estate and Whicher Ridge Chardonnay will do nicely (shared among at least 5 of us plus guests!).
I hadn’t really thought about beers until recently as this year I’ve tasted some fantastic craft beers. So I’ll need to buy a few from Hitachino Nest and of course the Cherry Bomb from Garage Project, if there’s any in stock! My parents live in Provence and my sister in Barcelona so a rosé from the south of France and a cava from Penedès or a wine from nearby Priorat should probably make an appearance in honour of them!
If that’s just Christmas Day, I’m probably being too optimistic to try these all on one day so if they aren’t all opened on the 25th, I’ll taste them on Boxing Day and the rest of the holiday period. I’m looking forward to the day, surrounded by family and friends! Who says it has to be cold and snowy for Christmas? Bring me the sunshine and warmth!
