When Cesar Credaro started working in the vineyards of Margaret River in his ‘spare time’ little did he know that one day the family name would be featured in Halliday’s latest Top Ten Dark Horses. Back in the 1920s, production was small with the family making small parcels of wine for themselves and neighbours. Fast forward to the 1980s and the family were supplying wineries in Margaret River with grapes. Today they manage a combination of 120 hectares in Carbunup, Treeton, Yallingup and Wallcliffe and the numerous awards they’ve won reflect the effort and dedication to vineyard management. They’ve been making their own wines for the past 8 years producing 1000 tonnes annually.
Today they grow; Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Merlot, Gewürztraminer and Fragola (means ‘strawberry’ in Italian) across their two ranges: the Estate and Beach Head.
At Swanny, we’re now lucky to have stock of a selection of their wines; the Cabernet Merlot at $25 and the Cabernet Sauvignon at $35, both from the Estate Range. We also sell the Shiraz and Cabernet Merlot from the Beach Head label, both for $20 each. Check out the website for their full range; www.credarowines.com.au.
Other exciting news from the winery is the launch of their first beer; the Blue Mile Pale Ale. Jack will be trying it soon so watch this space for his reviews. In the meantime, drop into the store and talk to us about the range.
